Insurers Guilty Of Ogden Rate Hysteria, Top Lawyer Says

Law3 60, London( May 19, 2017, 11:32 AM BST) -- U.K. insurers have reacted with "hysteria" to the government's tougher new personal injury compensation formula and have been underpaying victims for years, a extending claimant solicitor said here on Friday.
Brett Dixon, the new president of the Association of Personal Injury advocates, criticized the industry's demeanour to the recently revised" Ogden Rate ," which courts use to calculate lump sums for serious injuries .

But Dixon countered that the insurance industry was exaggerating security threats put forward by the Ogden rate and dismissed the suggestion that tough reconstructs would force insurers out of business .
